Welcome to VCYC!

Welcome to VCYC!

Dear VCYC Members, Friends and Fellow classic yacht enthusiasts,

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the brand new Vintage and Classic yacht club (VCYC) website. I know that it has taken quite some time to arrive at this moment but we stuck to our guns and have finally achieved what not so long ago, we thought impossible. Please spread the word far and wide so that we may grow this new venture into something special and one that will endure.

We haven’t done this by ourselves, however, and I should mention the people who believed in us and who have come together to make it possible. Firstly, we would like to thank you, the yacht owners for the positive reaction to this idea presented in various forms these past couple of years. A profound thank you also goes to Alex Ruiz, Domingo Carbonell, Andrew Bates and James Robinson Taylor for their selfless contributions and to all the numerous others who have lent moral support in these difficult times.

We are planning to run our Med Cup 2021 in September with the regattas at Imperia, Antibes and Cannes so we urge you to sign up to be in with a chance to lift the trophy in this the inaugural year. Unfortunately Argentario has been cancelled again but we would like to continue nonetheless. The rules and other information concerning the Med Cup 2021 will be published in due course so stay tuned!

Please send us your news, regatta and cruising schedules, photos and anecdotes that we may publish them and breathe life into the club and the website. Without the yachts and their news we cannot hope to survive so don’t be shy!

Also don’t hesitate to use the contact form for your enquiries and we will do our best to give you satisfaction. We are in the process of recruiting  a Technical advisory committee of volunteers to be able to answer the more technical type of enquiry so if you know of experts in boatbuilding, rating rules, racing rules of sailing or any other specialty concerning old boats, then we would love to hear from them.

Guido Cavallazi of North Sails and Jean Michel Rouve of Amazing Rigging have generously volunteered their knowledge and advice for the members. Our thanks to them. James Robinson Taylor has generously supplied the photos for the website and is ever on hand to capture your yachts best side!

So all that remains is to wish you all a wonderful start to the sailing season and we sincerely hope to hear from or see you soon.

Best regards,

Jono.
