Newsletter October 2021

October is already well established and you are all tied up in various ports around the Med, drying sails, winterizing your yachts in preparation for the colder months and I have finally recovered enough to write some news! It was quite a ride in September with five regattas week after week stretching the limits of your logistics, crew availability and free time. However, I’m sure you will agree that it was nice to finally feel a sense of normality seeping into the events this year and long may it continue. We do feel strongly, however, that the various events need a helping hand when it comes to race committee efficiency. We touched on this at the AGM and are actively seeking a “Series Master” to be with each of the race officers during our Series events to lend a helping hand and advise in the correct way.

We are delighted to have reached 25 member yachts by the close of season and have acquired a handful of promises to join next year. A target of 40 Yachts before the opening of hostilities next season is entirely within our grasp and would make for a very interesting championship for 2022.

If you have not managed to log into your Members area yet, please send us an email and we will send out a link for you to log in. A vote will be coming soon to decide on certain matters and help us plan for next season and we need all of you to have your vote. There is much to do and as ever it requires time and money to achieve our goals so with that said, I would urge you all to spread the word far and wide and help us develop this championship into something special. The full results are on the website, with race by race corrected times and I think this format is really interesting for the future. Let us know your thoughts on this so we can work on a transparent and coherent scoring for next year.

I am extremely happy with the AGM held on board Chinook, Rowdy and Manitou, the owners of which deserve our thanks. I think you all enjoyed it and even though I spent many a sleepless night worrying about it, I actually enjoyed it too. Unusual circumstances for unusual times! We will do our best to follow up on the issues raised and will keep you all appraised.

The Prize giving also was much more interesting than I could have hoped for and our thanks go to the owner of Orianda for providing us with such a magnificent podium. The format was very much “off the cuff” and I hope it was short enough and not boring. Thanks to you all for supporting your first prize giving and a part of me hopes for longer events of this type in the future, as it will mean that we have found more people to thank!!

We would be delighted to hear from our members, presenting your ideas, advice and support. We would also love to receive some content from you to post on the website, be it photos, video or even text if you would like to write and share with the others.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our partners, Viyra, Satevis, Romeo Marine, JRT Photo and all of you who believe in this venture. Without you, we cannot hope to succeed so THANK YOU!
