Dear Friends,
Time has passed so quickly since the launch of the website that I am surprised that I must write a newsletter so soon!
We are delighted to welcome “Argyll” and “Spartan” to the Club. Both fierce competitors and both of whom, we are sure, will do their utmost to reach the top step of the podium.
Our members have been active this past month with Manitou cruising in Greece and Italy, Chips winning at the Porquerolles regatta, and Skylark and Circe flying the S&S colours there. Chinook will be sailing again very soon and Hallowe’en is doing a bit of dusting before the season kicks off properly! We don’t have a lot of news from you, the members, so please keep us up to speed with your season so far.
We were a little worried about the event in Imperia going ahead but it has now been confirmed so we can run our three regatta series this year and I would urge your friends and fellow competitors to sign up to be in with a chance to lift the trophy in Cannes, end of September. If you would like for this to become an event worthy of your participation, I would invite you all to help us out and spread the word. We are working hard behind the scenes for this to become a prestigious event and attract sponsorship, but we are few and need your help.
That said, we have acquired the Vintage Marconi and Gaff class trophies and they are in preparation for an unveiling soon but unless there is a big increase in the Classic and Big Boat members soon, we will be obliged to postpone those particular trophies until next year.
The rules for the upcoming series will be published very soon on the website and we hope that many of you join up to race together this first year of The Med Cup.
Best regards,
Jono.
